HOW TO ORDER A BOWL
The Warped Woodturner (TWW) is a local artist traveling his artist's journey in a suburb of Springbrook, WI (pop. 536). TWW's creative calling is to use a wood lathe to make useless objects from locally-sequestered organic carbon for tourists to bring back to the city to give to people they had to buy something for but do not like that much. His target market is the senior citizens since their vision is not as good as it used to be so cannot see the defects as well. His marketing jingle is: “Bowls as simple as their creator”.

Quote for the day - deja vu all over again
"In 1986, President Ronald Reagan signed into law the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the bill which was co-sponsored by Congressman Romano Mazola (D-KY), and Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY) granted amnesty to about 3 million illegal aliens, mostly from Mexico....the American people were told that the Simpson-Mazzoli bill would correct our “broken immigration system” and “bring people out of the shadows,” while ensuring that our borders would be defended, it quickly became obvious that we had been fed a lie…Sound familiar?"
source: Milwaukee Examiner
Something to keep in mind as they reform immigration laws again. Just think of what happened to the Native Americans when they did not control who moved into their lands.

Pine Plumber's Plate Project
To find something to use in keeping this blog going TWW decided to mount a Menard's 1" x 12" board back on the lathe. This was the same board with a second board glued to the back to mount it to the lathe without having screw holes in the finished product TWW first mounted in March when the board caught the chisel and overstressed the lathe and the lathe was out of commission for 6 weeks. And outside expert warned TWW that the glue block did not need to be so big but as TWW Sr. told TWW (yes he is a junior) when he was little "you always have to learn things the hard way".
TWW got this first beautiful pine plate almost done but when he was trying to pry the glue block off of the plate the plate transformed into a plumber's plate. Hopefully, a little glue will hide the mistake. And once again TWW cautions people to never buy something they see on the Internet.

Storms to the south and nothing to the north
For life enrichment sit on the porch and watch the cloud go by. It helps to have a camera that gets an exact representation of what they look like but such is life.

More trivia
This is really a garden. No joke.
The weeds are losing to the vegetables for now.
The air conditioner awaiting the warm weather.
The shadow of the maple tree.
MRs. TWW's hostas are growing but deer and rabbits have been seen in the area.
Done (close enough for government work) moving wood to dry out
New pile seen from Shirleywood Forest
Trees marked for selective cutting for kindling
What remains of old pile is now able to dry
New firewood wall along driveway
Two walls holding each other up
Quotes for the day
Actually this all makes sense if you consider the fact it is all part of climate change.
In the midst of a severe drought we read this from the National Weather Service today:
" HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DULUTH MN 1200 PM CDT WED JUN 23 2010 ...MORE HEAVY RAINFALL THIS WEEKEND COULD LEAD TO FLOODING..."

Once again TWW wishes he was smart enough to make this stuff up
"White House mocks BP CEO's yacht race, defends Obama golf
(AFP) – 15 hours ago
WASHINGTON — A White House spokesman mocked BP's chief executive Monday for attending a luxury yacht race despite the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, but then defended President Barack Obama's own weekend golf game.........."I think that a little time to himself on Father's Day weekend probably does us all good as American citizens," he said."
Early morning walkabout
Fog in the valley. Must be caused by the coming cooler temperatures from La Nina.
The rain lately caused by the drought caused by global warming means more work since TWW needs to empty the rain gauge more often.
The trash container escaped being molested by bears last night.
A rare sighting lately as the sun rises with no cloud cover.

More problems caused by the drought
It turns out the drought is causing the firewood cut for the 2011-2012 burning season to begin rotting. Therefore TWW has to move and restack the wood to allow more air around the wood to dry the wood out.

Aching back time?
TWW thought he had moved more wood than needed for the last heating season and so was going to cut back for this fall and only had a little more to go in moving wood for this year but then read this from his favorite climate scientist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville:
"Global Average Sea Surface Temperatures Continue their Plunge
June 18th, 2010 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.Sea Surface Temperatures (SSTs) measured by the AMSR-E instrument on NASA’s Aqua satellite continue their plunge as a predicted La Nina approaches.....(followed by a bunch of graphs and scientific language)......What this shows is an unusually large increase in reflected sunlight over the last several months, probably due to an increase in low cloud cover. At this pace of cooling, I suspect that the second half of 2010 could ruin the chances of getting a record high global temperature for this year. Oh, darn."

Next winter might be a cold one so be prepared.

TWW wishes he was smart enough to make this stuff up
"the Coast Guard ordered the stoppage because of reasons that Jindal found frustrating. The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges" -- the reason barges to slurp up oil cannot do their job in LA.

and per usual let's all blame Bush

GA of AZ visits the middle of nowhere
Before beginning the recovery process, TWW and Mrs. TWW visited some friends who truly live in the middle of nowhere. GA of AZ was also visiting so entertained the group. Guess which one was the kid.

TWW is in recovery
Last Friday when TWW and MrsTWW came back from a trip to the true middle of nowhere, TWW found his mother boarding computer had died. He is currently in a 12 step recovery program to get his life back to normal. TWW thanks all 3.5 of his loyal readers for their patience and hopes they wish him well on his road to recovering all that he lost. Fortunately he listens to Rush Limbough and was sold on the idea of Carbonite so all of his files are floating up in the clouds somewhere. His current life enrichment opportunity is to find them and put them on the new machine.

3rd quote of the day -- now the lawyers are coming out against AGW -- is there money there?
A cross examination of global warming science conducted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Institute for Law and Economics has concluded that virtually every claim advanced by global warming proponents fail to stand up to scrutiny.
source here: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/06/08/legal-beagle-says-manmade-global-warming-science-doesn’t-withstand-scrutiny/#more-20322He found that the climate establishment does not follow the scientific method. Instead, it “seems overall to comprise an effort to marshal evidence in favor of a predetermined policy preference.”
2nd Quote of the Day - the right to what?
"Mexican President Felipe Calderon said Tuesday that his government "will use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants." "

quote for the day -- have you been scammed?
This is a quote from the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota (they operate about 5 shelters around the twin cities.
"
MISCONCEPTION: Animal Humane Society is a local chapter of the HSUS, ASPCA or PETA
Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is a national animal welfare organization out of Washington D.C. focusing on education, advocacy and political action on behalf of animals. They do not operate shelters or provide services to the public in our local communities."

Rain day vase
The rain prevents work so time to play.
This is another item meant to be filled up since it has shortcomings
on the inside where you cannot sand them out easily.
The bottom turned out the best.
