This is another bowl with the center of the tree in the center of the bowl. Even after using the buffing system on this bowl it still looks like oak plywood.

Introducing the Bettebowl

The latest creation of TWW Enterprises is the Bettebowl meant for anyone you know with quirky taste. The Bettebowl is a natural edge bowl made from red pine and finished with a little tung oil then buffed. These photos do not capture the beauty of the wood from a tree formerly growing on the access road to Garbin Moraine and knocked down by a guy delivering logs for firewood and oak bowls.

A granted wish

One of the rules of successful freeloading is to thank your generous donors and that is what we want to do. If you remember back to December 7th (see post for that date) of this year TWW put out his holiday wishlist. Thanks to the generosity of LK and JJ of Danbury one of TWW's wishes has come true. While trying to roll out the lefse at the lefse bake this year TWW kept messing things due to inadequate equipment (it couuldn't have been his competence) so TWW asked for a lefse rolling board. That wish has been granted. Thanks JJ and LK!! And be sure to visit the fire pit the next time you stop by and pick up your premiums.

Out of office

TWW is out of the office and will return to work on Tuesday December 22nd then be out of the office from December 24th until December 26th. Happy Holidays!

Now that it is safe to come out again the deer have been busy trying to eat the cranberries off of the American cranberry bushes.

Abbey's Rules for Successful Freeloading

Abby (not from AZ) was nice enough to pass along some of her rules for being a successful freeloader. All aspiring freeloaders should read her rules carefully. As you read them remember Abbey (not from AZ) is only about 27" tall so that is how she sees the world.

Abbey's (not from AZ) Rules:

1. Be observant. Everything that has two legs is a potential donor (this excludes chairs and tables since they have four legs).

2. Keep your expectations low and do not jump up on people.

3. Always look appreciative when something with two legs notices you even if you have not gotten a handout yet.

4. Never beg, ask favors or tell people how dumb you are by creating a mess you need help with and expect a donation.

5. Use every means possible to show appreciation like looks and tail language.

6. Finally, never leave your premiums in places where people can step on them especially if they are fresh.

Heard on the AM radio

TWW was listening today to Rush Limbaugh to learn the truth. After stumbling over something he was trying to say , Rush Limbaugh said " 'sorry folks. My mouth is going faster than my brain today".

Toilet moments

National Public Radio makes a big deal of Driveway Moments (a link to NPR). They claim their programs at times are so good people who are listening while driving continue to listen after they get home until the program is over. TWW thinks this wastes energy and creates greenhouse gases if the car is running especially if the air conditioner is going. To help save the planet TWW is now promoting Toilet Moments. If a magazine is so good you just can't put it down then you know you have a Toilet Moment (notice the woodturning magazine in the picture). There is already an imitator site out there (http://www.toiletmoment.com ) but TWW Enterprises has nothing to do with them.

Garbin Moraine Christmas Wish List

The holiday seasons present another opportunity to explore getting people to donate to your cause. Charities do this all the time. Children also seem to do this naturally but when most people grow up they feel uncomfortable begging (unless there are a bunch of people with liberal values in their audience). In that spirit TWW has decided to make a holiday wish list -- the adult version of the letter to Santa.

Here are some items on TWW's Wishlist for the betterment of Garbin Moraine and the world:

• a faster computer with more storage space

Another bowl for the doublewide market niche

This bowl was made by keeping the center of the tree in the middle of the bowl instead of the center of the tree being at the top of the bowl. The selling point of these bowls is they look like plywood on the outside of the bowl so should sell well with the doublewide crowd who are more used to plywood than expensive wood in their surroundings. You can see the center of the tree if you look at the bowl from the bottom or top. This is another feature the doublewide crowd likes. We are working to get Sarah Palin to do a testimonial for these bowls.

Lefse Thursday

In another successful freeloading endeavor Mrs. TWW got her friends to come over and make lefse for her. If you are not familiar with lefse, it is a Norwegian taco made from potatoes instead of corn. This is similar to making vodka from potatoes instead of whiskey from corn. They all taste funny but not as bad as fish soaked in lye. Anyway, here are some pics:

This red oak bowl with a bottom (unlike the our LEADER's plans for Afghanistan) is a carbon sequestration present for JPJP mentioned in the recent post about the latest Bowlbama. TWW is exploring getting carbon credits for his work. You may be able to cash in on them so stay tuned.
