The Warped Woodturner (TWW) is a local artist traveling his artist's journey in a suburb of Springbrook, WI (pop. 536). TWW's creative calling is to use a wood lathe to make useless objects from locally-sequestered organic carbon for tourists to bring back to the city to give to people they had to buy something for but do not like that much. His target market is the senior citizens since their vision is not as good as it used to be so cannot see the defects as well. His marketing jingle is: “Bowls as simple as their creator”.

Stealing lilacs from the neighbors

For the French dinner at the cabin TWW pilfered some lilacs from the neighbors who are not up for the summer yet.  He thought they said he had permission last year so he hopes they do not see this post if that is wrong.

Harassing the fawns

TWW decided to harass a doe with two fawns in the valley below his house.  He did not want the doe to be there.  The doe did not realize there was a coyote hunting a few days back right where she had put her fawns so hopefully the doe will get the message and not come back but it did mean the chance to get some pictures though the light in the evening was not the best.

Mrs. TWW's 29th anniversary present

Unfortunately for TWW these tulips came from Ms. MAMA so he does not get the points. But he did give Mrs. TWW a cute card with the pages stapled together to add a touch of class to the event.

Reward offered for drive-away (without paying)

If you can recognize the person in this picture the Garbin Moraine Foundation will give you a reward for helping us catching someone who road the stair lift without paying for the $5.00 ticket required.

Spared from the frost by being in the living room last night?

Not sure if we had frost or not up here. It was about 35 degrees F on the thermometer early this morning so we will have to see if the apple blossoms got it or not.

"WisPolitics: Senate committee approves conceal carry bill
5/26/2011

The Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill Wednesday to allow the carrying of concealed weapons.

The committee voted 3-2 along party lines in favor of the bill, which wouldn't require a permit for concealed carry. A substitute amendment by bill author Sen. Pam Galloway, R-Wausau (left), establishes an optional license that would allow concealed carry in other states that allow it.

The committee also unanimously backed amendments by Galloway to prohibit concealed carry while municipal courtrooms are in session and to allow judges to suspend the optional licenses.

Galloway said she's concerned for her constituents’ self-defense and for business owners in her primarily rural district.

"The police can't be everywhere, and the sheriff can't be everywhere," Galloway said.

Republicans rejected two Dem amendments to the concealed carry bill: one to require at least 10 hours of gun training and another seeking to ban concealed weapons from more facilities.

"Training is extremely important to us," said Sen. Jon Erpenbach, D-Waunakee. He emphasized that every gun owner he knows is responsible, but that "we've changed state law because of small groups of people before."

Galloway said she was personally opposed to a training mandate, saying, "It's just hard to legislate responsibility."

Erpenbach also sought to change the facility exemption amendment to ban concealed weapons in the Capitol only. Galloway objected to that change, which was upheld by committee chairman Rich Zipperer, R-Pewaukee, citing precedent of 24 hours' notice for amendments.

Galloway said while the issue in the Capitol and other government buildings would be up to those with oversight of the facilities, she'd be open to allowing both concealed and open carry in the Capitol."

This law  means the people packing heat in MN will be able to pack heat in WI when it passes and Walker signs it.  Life will never be the same on Garbin Moraine.
