HOW TO ORDER A BOWL
The Warped Woodturner (TWW) is a local artist traveling his artist's journey in a suburb of Springbrook, WI (pop. 536). TWW's creative calling is to use a wood lathe to make useless objects from locally-sequestered organic carbon for tourists to bring back to the city to give to people they had to buy something for but do not like that much. His target market is the senior citizens since their vision is not as good as it used to be so cannot see the defects as well. His marketing jingle is: “Bowls as simple as their creator”.

Bernard Madoff comments on Social Security?
Bernard Madoff said to a reporter the "whole government is a Ponzi scheme." The story continues
"A Ponzi, or pyramid, scheme is a scam in which people are persuaded to invest through promises of unusually high returns, with early investors paid their returns out of money put in by later investors."

More double-speak of civility
Some local people are trying to start a recall petition drive to recall Democrat state senator Bob Jauch from up nort for fleeing the state. Don't they know there was an election last fall and the will of the people was to elect Jauch? TWW thinks people should live with the results and not get all upset. We live in a democracy you know.
Some people in the state are refusing to do their jobs and show up for work to cast votes against legislation they oppose to represent their districts. Don't they know there was an election last fall and the will of the people was to elect Pharaoh Walker and Republican majorities in the legislature? TWW thinks people should live with the results and not get all upset. We live in a democracy you know.

Why Pharaoh Walker is not leaving even though riots are spreading across Wisconsin
It's winter in WISCONSIN
And the gentle breezes blow,
40 miles per hour at 32 below!
Oh, how I love WISCONSIN
When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
When the snow's up to your butt;

And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
You may think I'm a fool.
I could never leave WISCONSIN
'cause I'm frozen to the stool!

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly took the first significant action on their plan to strip collective bargaining rights from most public workers, abruptly passing the measure early Friday morning before sleep-deprived Democrats realized what was happening."

The truth of the matter from TWW:
The truth of the matter from TWW:
- The bill does not strip all collective bargaining rights from the public unions. They can still bargain on salaries but cannot go over the cost of living unless voters approve the raises in a referendum. Based on the public outcry statewide over the bill, the voters are sure to flock to the polls to support raises for the workers beyond the cost of living so they will get their just raises making the bill moot.
- There is an election in two years and the Democrats will win enough seats in the Senate and Assembly to override Pharaoh Walker's veto of a bill to restore union rights in the state so the lost rights will come back in two years anyway again making the bill moot.
- The new majorities will raise taxes on the wealthy people who supported this union busting led by the Koch brothers making more Wisconsin rich people take up residence in Florida
- Protesters like to moan and cry and be seen on TV.

Did FDR really say this?
Even President Franklin Roosevelt, a friend of private-sector unionism, drew a line when it came to government workers: "Meticulous attention," the president insisted in 1937, "should be paid to the special relations and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the Government....The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service." The reason? F.D.R. believed that "[a] strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to obstruct the operations of government until their demands are satisfied. Such action looking toward the paralysis of government by those who have sworn to support it is unthinkable and intolerable."

Bad Timing Award Nomination
The latest nomination for a bad timing award goes to Pharoah Walker (formerly known as Governor Scott Walter not the TV guy) and the Wipublicans. They had everything going for their evil desires for the public unions since they had created class envy against public workers (a tactic straight from the Democrat's play book when the Dems made people jealous of successful people who supposedly did not deserve their successes). Then the fools in WI did not know the public unions would disguise themselves as street protesters from the Middle East and get public sympathy so they could steal victim status away from the taxpayers who thought they were being victimized by the public sector unions. Bad timing.
Amazing: there actually are two sides to the story
It took a week but there actually are two sides to the story about Pharoah Walker suppressing the people of Wisconsin.
"But away from Madison, many people said that public workers needed to share in the sacrifice that their own families have been forced to make."
see the newspaper of record at: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/us/22union.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha2
The people locally have spoken. (whether they were right or not is a matter of opinion but such is democracy). The referendum vote was taken after the Spooner paper ran some stories on how much teachers were paid.

"Referendum fails 1,778 to 744
$2.35 million, four-year, non-reoccurring operational referendum for Spooner Area School District fails by over 1,000 votes
BY FRANK ZUFALL
Published: Wednesday, February 16, 2011 9:26 AM CST
The proposed $2.35 million four-year, non-reoccurring operational referendum for the Spooner Area School District failed to pass in the Tuesday, Feb. 15 primary election by (unofficial count) 744 voting "Yes" to 1,778 voting "No".
The proposed $2.35 million referendum would have been initiated in the 2011-12 school year and would have raised property taxes over current property taxes by $43 per $100,000 of property value in 2012. As it had in the last four years, the district also planned on cutting at least $150,000 yearly from the budget in each of the next four years."

Bad timing for TWW's writing career?
Right in the middle of all of the pushback against government handouts and benefits in Wisconsin a magazine in Wisconsin published an article by TWW on how to survive in the country by means of government handouts. (link to a copy of the manuscript).
One interesting part of the published article was one word change. The original article was attempting a clever ending by saying "Finally, another good source of leads is the next generation . See if your local high school has a Future Freeloaders of America (FFA) chapter."
The printed article said 'Farmers' instead of 'Freeloaders'. TWW could not tell if the editor thought 'Farmers' was correcting a putdown on FFA or if farmers are freeloaders too with all of their government programs.

Local demonstration against Pharoah Walker & a thought by TWW on child rearing
TWW thinks parent should not get upset if their kids are protesting and demanding more money for the teachers. But parents should find out how much this will make their taxes go up and subtract that from their kids allowances to teach responsibility.

Latest benefactor premium
After TWW knocked the heirloom olive oil flask off the counter and made a mess, a generous benefactor came to the rescue with a new olive oil dispenser. GM policy is to always give cheap premiums to benefactors so the benefactors continue to give.

He wrote: By now, I suspect everyone is familiar with snopes.comand/or truthorfiction.com for determining whether information received via email is just that: true/false or fact/fiction. Both are excellent sites. Advice from snopes.com VERY IMPORTANT!! 1) Any time you see an email that says "forward this on to '10' (or however many) of your friends", "sign this petition", or "you'll get bad luck" or "you'll get good luck" or "you'll see something funny on your screen after you send it" or whatever --- it almost always has an email tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and emails of those folks you forward to. The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of 'active' email addresses to use in SPAM emails or sell to other spammers. Even when you get emails that demand you send the email on if you're not ashamed of God/Jesus --- that is email tracking, and they are playing on our conscience. These people don't care how they get your email addresses - just as long as they get them. Also, emails that talk about a missing child or a child with an incurable disease "how would you feel if that was your child" --- email tracking. Ignore them and don't participate! 2) Almost all emails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards. All it was, and all any of this type of email is, is a way to get names and 'cookie' tracking information for telemarketers and spammers -- to validate active email accounts for their own profitable purposes. You can do your Friends and Family members a GREAT favor by sending this information to them. You will be providing a service to your friends. And you will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam emails in the future! Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listing regardless how inviting they might sound! Or make you feel guilty if you don't! It's all about getting email addresses and nothing more. You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT! Instead, you will be getting tons of junk mail later and very possibly a virus attached! Plus, we are helping the spammers get rich! Let's not make it easy for them! ALSO: Email petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress or any other organization - i.e. social security, etc. To be acceptable, petitions must have a "signed signature" and full address of the person signing the petition, so this is a waste of time and you are just helping the email trackers. |
Tips for Handling Telemarketers
Three Little Words That Work!!
(1)The three little words are: 'Hold On, Please...'
Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.
Then when you eventually hear the phone company's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.
These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting..
(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?
This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.
This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a 'real' sales person to call back and get someone at home.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call, and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!!!
(3) Junk Mail Help:
When you get 'ads' enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these 'ads' with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away.
When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.
Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 44 cents postage, 'IF' and when they receive them back.
It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.
One of Andy Rooney 's (60 minutes) ideas.
Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back!
If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you send them.
You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 44 cents.
The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're paying for it...Twice!
Let's help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that's why they need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea!
If enough people follow these tips, it will work I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.
