Washburn County Sheriff's Office Investigator Austin Parenteau has confirmed that Michael J. Egan, 67, now deceased, had kept the corpse of his mother, Elizabeth Egan, on the couch in his home long after her death. She is estimated to have died sometime in 2008, at an approximate age of 97. According to Sawyer County probate records, Michael and Elizabeth lived at N6183 Lake Road, Stone Lake.
Michael Egan himself died at the residence in early June, but his body wasn't found until approximately two weeks later when officials removed it from the floor of a bedroom."
