The Warped Woodturner (TWW) is a local artist traveling his artist's journey in a suburb of Springbrook, WI (pop. 536). TWW's creative calling is to use a wood lathe to make useless objects from locally-sequestered organic carbon for tourists to bring back to the city to give to people they had to buy something for but do not like that much. His target market is the senior citizens since their vision is not as good as it used to be so cannot see the defects as well. His marketing jingle is: “Bowls as simple as their creator”.

Wrong kind of plumbing snake creates a mess

About two weeks ago TWW tried to take out the filter in his septic to clean it. Upon pulling off the heavy cover TWW found a snake sitting on top of the filter. You have to reach about four feet down into the hole to get at the handle and TWW was concerned about falling into the hole so decided to use a rake to lift the filter up. Bad idea. The filters are fragile and after getting the filter out of its enclosure the filter slipped and broke while the snake swam around it. Getting the mess out of the tank was an ineresting challenge - especially the snake. Above you see the original filter and the replacement one TWW had to buy. Today was time to put the new one in.

Yellow rope was supposed to help keep TWW from falling in.

Mission accomplished we hope. The next challenge will be getting the filter out next year. Don't you wish you lived in the country?

We just learned the septic in the space station has problems too and they can't just walk out to a tree and do their business: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5g8gpZRl3t8mV2RxsVjIuPU75dJeAD99HQS7G0
